When my primary care physician asked me why I was seeing a chiropractor in San Jose California, I explained that it was because I had fallen down while skiing and hurt my back. I had gone back to Pennsylvania to visit some family over the holidays, and I thought that I would be able to do more than the bunny trails. Well, the joke was on me, because I was certainly not prepared for anything beyond the learner’s trails. I figured that I had bruised my ego more than my back, but it turned out to be the opposite.
I flew home a few days later, and I was still in a decent amount of pain. I was not going to contact my primary care physician when I knew he would just refer me to a specialist. I cut out the middle man and handled it myself by scheduling an appointment with a chiropractor. (more…)
I had to find out some information on home security systems for one of my clients. I am a home health aide, but I end up doing things that are well outside my scope of duties. Helping this one patient find out how much it would cost to get a home security system is just one way that I help them when I am able to do it. Most of the people I take care of do not have computers, so I brought my tablet to work one day so I could show her the different price plans on the ADT website.
She is very smart and extremely independent, but she is confined to a wheelchair, which does limit her mobility a lot. There is nothing wrong with her mind though, and she scoured the ADT website for all the information she wanted on the home security systems. I looked over her shoulder, and I was pretty amazed at the pricing. (more…)
I have spent this morning going around the internet trying to figure out how to buy instagram followers, even though I have not really found a good reason why you should want to do this. The boss has got it in his head that we really need to learn how to use social media marketing, the people who gave him the idea expected that he would pay them to do it for us. However they probably did not realize that he never pays for stuff when he thinks that we can do it in house. (more…)
When I was a little girl, my grandfather started a trust fund for me. The stipulations of this fund were that I could not receive it until I was 30 years old and it had to be used to purchase a home for myself. It has grown substantially and is enough to ensure I will have low monthly payments. Well, I turn 30 next month and have decided to start looking for my new home. I know some people that live in the New Futura Condo community and think I will start looking there.
These condos are the newest and most modern ones around. (more…)
Sometimes playing with your kids means that you’ll take a few bruises, or even have to visit a chiropractor in Redding CA. Ever since seeing the Peanuts movie, my kids love the character Charlie Brown. They had the idea of trying the famous football gag that happens to Charlie Brown on me. They asked me if I could show them how to kick a football, so I did. As I was about to kick the ball, my kids moved it away, and just like Charlie Brown, I fell right on my back. I screamed out in pain, which alerted my wife and she came running outside to check on me.
The kids thought I was going to die because of the prank they pulled and started crying. My wife helped me back inside and put some ice on my back while she placed a call to the chiropractor to make an appointment. I kept telling the kids that I would be fine, but they still didn’t believe it and kept begging me not to die. (more…)
My wife and I have decided the course of our future together. We have very similar goals that complement each other, which is further proof that we are meant to be together. One of those goals is finding the perfect place to live within a few years. Right now, we are living in the guest house that her parents own, and they are being supportive in our search for the perfect home. We see developments throughout the different areas we are in since we are very social, and the New Futura condo development is the first to really catch our eye.
We had looked at others, of course, but we knew that none of them were for us. (more…)
I promised myself that the next time a president is elected for a first term in office that I would keep a record of all the good and bad attributed to his or her administration. Well, I was not expecting our new president to be Donald J. Trump, but that is okay. My tracking was going to be whether I voted for the person or not. This article is not about my vote, as I just mentioned I was surprised he won, not whether I voted for him or not. A great resource for me is President Trump news at a website that is all about news reports on his administration. I am not talking about the fluff stuff. I mean real reporting about actual decisions he is making, and the things he is saying.
I separate the reports into favorable and unfavorable. I even have a section for extremes of decision making for the better or worse that is based on my my own criteria that comes from my own political ideology. I admit that my leanings are very independent even though I am registered to vote with one of the two major parties. (more…)
When I was a kid I had a hard time saying Massachusetts in grade school. I’m still not sure I say it perfectly well! I can remember my teacher breaking it down into the various syllables and having me say it slowly. When I could say it slowly, she would ask me to say it fast. Then I would mess up. Though I might never be able to say it with a refined Boston accent, I really like living here. Recently my wife and I were looking for apartments in Arlington MA to live close to Cambridge but not right in it. (more…)
Sometimes finding an apartment is all about location. No different than when you are buying a home, where you live needs to be convenient to the places you need to get to. At times in an expensive city like Boston, size and amenities have to be sacrificed in an apartment search in order to get a place in the best location, but there are other options that renters can sometimes overlook that are ideal. For many, choosing apartments for Boston area is tied to the commute they make to work. This is the case whether you drive or take public transportation. Both can be lengthy commutes, though driving is almost always the more taxing option which is why people like to live close to the T when possible. The good news in Boston is that though so much of what renters want access to is in the city center, public transportation is available in the greater area, so looking just outside of the city can be a good option for many looking for more bank for their buck along with a bit more space.
Boston is a vibrant city with a lot of great history, events, shopping, and restaurants, not to mention the sports. It makes people want to live right in the middle of the city. Although this is understandable, living just outside in an area like Revere, is something to consider as well. When you leave the city limits, you can gain other things. More space per square footage at a more reasonable monthly rent is a big bonus. Just a few miles outside of the city, an area like Revere offers something that the city cannot in most locations – an oceanfront apartment with amazing views. Although not perfect for every renter, many will find the setting beautiful and serene. And still close to the city, the airport and located near public transit. When looking for your next place, make sure you are broadening the scope of your search.
You would think living in Singapore would make it easy to get around. It isn’t and that is why I looked into Seaside Residences at the suggestion of my boss after I arrived at work late once again due to my current living arrangements. I live in an isolated area of the city, isolated being a relative term here, but I don’t have a lot of quick transportation options. I have to walk a considerable distance to catch a bus and then switch buses a few times to get to work. If I miss one bus, I’m always late.
The boss suggested I move into a place that is not only nice, but located much closer to work. (more…)
